Elie Izerbitt has won the last three editions of the World Cup round at Waterloo, so the opening cross of the World Cup is still looking positive. “It's a shame there aren't more matches out there,” Iserbid said even in conversation H.L.N.
The cyclo-cross debate over the US World Cups flared up again last week. Bart Wellens kept his riders at home because they were “too expensive”, while Waterloo's organizers say they have plenty of financial support but don't get enough demand.
“I'm ready for the US trip,” Iserbyt said this morning. “I still think it's worth making the trip. We want to win the World Cup with the team, so we're going to America with a big support team.
He is still financially reserved. “It's a tough exercise. It's good to win, if you finish second you're broke, if you finish third it's already a financial loss. Anyway, there's prize money for the classification and you get important UCI points. I hope there will be more World Cups in the next few years. It's good to connect.”
