In Germany, a man stabbed two teenage girls in the street. A 14-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries. The second victim, a 13-year-old girl, is in hospital with serious injuries. According to the German magazine picture The perpetrator is a 27-year-old Eritrean asylum seeker.

Police received a call that a stabbing had occurred in Oberkirchberg, a sub-municipality of Illirkirchberg, around 7:30 am on Monday. Witnesses saw two girls being attacked as they were walking to a bus stop to go to a school in a nearby town. The 14-year-old girl was resuscitated at once, but later died in hospital. The second victim was seriously injured.

The perpetrator ran into an asylum shelter after the attack. Heavily armed officers surrounded the building and arrested three people, including the suspect. Nothing is yet known about his motives, nor whether he knew the girls or whether he lived there.
The reason for the arrest of two other people in the house in addition to the suspect was also not disclosed. Markus Häußler, the mayor of the affected municipality, says he is deeply devastated and wants to do everything to help the victims and their relatives.
