MusicDuncan Lawrence, 27, released a Christmas carol for the first time. The 2019 Eurovision Song Contest winner will sing ‘Wishes Come True’ on November 26.
The Dutch singer shared a link to Spotify’s “pre-save” page for the new song on his social media channels. Listeners who have already saved the song to their playlist have a chance to receive a personal Christmas message from the singer, he promised.
Duncan Lawrence isn’t the first Eurovision winner to create a Christmas carol. For example, Måns Zelmerlöw, who won the 2015 Song Festival on behalf of Sweden, released “Alone on Christmas Eve” last year. Zelmerlöw has also previously done an entire Christmas album, just like Eurovision legend Johnny Logan.

There is also less good news for Duncan. The singer didn’t win any awards Saturday night at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France. Duncan, who attended the show, got a chance in the Best International Newcomer category, but saw the award go to Olivia Rodrigo. In addition to Rodrigo and Lawrence, Bad Bunny, The Kid Laroy, Justin Wellington, and Fuzia were also nominated.
Lawrence was not the only Dutchman who had the chance to win an award. Martin Garrix is nominated in this year’s DJ category. However, that award went to DJ Snake. The NRJ Music Awards have been organized annually since 2000 by the French youth radio station NRJ. Among the winners were Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, and others.
