CyclingRemco Evenepoel (22) will make the Tour of Lombardy a prime target in 2023. The reigning world champion will be hoping to add a new monument to his list of honors in Italy. Evenepoel is training hard for this – he was spotted today in bad weather during a 100+ kilometer journey.

We already knew that Remco Evenepoel will take part in the Tour of Italy next season, and that he aspires to achieve stage victories and reach the podium there, He said in “Your Movie of the Year”. In addition, Evenboul is hopeful that Belgium will deliver world champions for the second year in a row in 2023 – “it could be someone other than myself” – and Evenboul wants to add a new monument to his list of honors after Liege-Bastogne-Liege. “The Tour of Lombardy, together with the Giro, will be my biggest goal next season.”
On Radio 2, the world champion made this goal even more clear. “I would really like to win the Tour of Lombardy next year. It’s not revenge for my heavy fall two years ago. It’s a new goal and I want to be completely ready in my head.”

The Vuelta winner is of course busy preparing for the new season. He trained regularly in Spain, but Evenpoel will stay in Belgium again for the holidays. And so he has to take the Belgian weather into account – today he was spotted during a training ride of over 100km in real dog weather. “I consider this as a good weather preparation for the Giro,” he winked. On Instagram, he wished his followers a Merry Christmas.
Evenepoel has appeared at the start of the Lombardy Tour twice before. In 2020 he crashed downhill at Moro di Sormano and had a long rehabilitation period ahead of him. In 2021, he finished 19th, more than three minutes behind winner Tadezh Pogacar.
