The Red Devils will reserve two training matches against Ireland and England in this international window. However, many other teams are still fighting to achieve important goals. Twelve teams still dreamed of a European Championship on Thursday night, but the dream is now over for six of them.
The European Championship qualifiers ended some time ago, but through the UEFA Nations League three more countries can join the 21 countries already qualified for Euro 2024, which will be held in Germany next summer. There are still 12 qualifying countries, six of which were eliminated on Thursday evening.
Usually we start from “Path A” and then get to “Path B” and then “Path C”, but the Red Devils will face the winner of “Path B” in the European Championships in Germany and that's all main.
Path B
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Israel or Iceland. One of these four countries will end up in the group with the Red Devils in the European Championship. In the semi-finals of the qualifiers, we were presented with two very exciting matches.
Iceland fell behind to Israel thanks to a penalty kick from Zahavi. However, the Icelanders were able to put things right thanks to Gudmundsson's hat-trick, among others. In between, Trastasson also scored: 1-4.
Iceland also have to play away from home in the final. Bosnia and Herzegovina took the lead at home thanks to an own goal, but Roman Yaremchuk (former Gent and Club Brugge) managed to equalize and then also made the score 1-2 for Dovbek.
Path A
Wales and Poland will be allowed to decide between themselves in Wales who can go to the 2024 European Championship in Germany. Both countries had no problem with their opponents on Thursday evening.
Wales beat Finland 4-1, with goals from Williams and James. The Poles beat Estonia 5-1.
Path c
Anthony Morris' dream had already been shattered by the early evening. Luxembourg lost 2-0 to Georgia with the Union SG goalkeeper under the crossbar. They can compete in the final against Greece, which won 5-0 over Kazakhstan.
