Cyril Desires (27) will not play for Feyenoord next season. Dutch first-division side Racing Genk has informed that it is not lighting a buy option for the deep striker. So the Dessers start preparing for the new season with FC Limburg.
Turns out the Dessers were a real champion in Rotterdam last season. He was very decisive, especially in the conference league, with some important goals. With 10 goals he became the third top scorer of the European Championship, which Feyenoord did not win.
Feyenoord wanted to take over the Nigeria international from Racing Genk permanently, but he hasn’t reached a deal with the Dessers on a personal level. The Dutch first-division team announced today that it is not taking the purchase option seriously.
So Dessers will begin prepping for the new season at Racing Genk next month. “We are already looking forward to the warm blue and white reunion,” he told FC Limburg.
I will cherish the number 33 and Feyenoord for the rest of my life.
Dessers: “The whole season was a big adventure”
Dessers himself responded to the end of his time in Rotterdam on the Feyenoord website. “I had a great time,” said the striker. “Last year I chose this club just before the market closed and this decision was one of the best decisions of my career. The whole season has been one big adventure, with success in Europe and a great interaction with the fans there. I will cherish the number 33 shirt and Feyenoord for the rest of my life.”
