Flemings asks for five times more installments for household batteries | the interior

The popularity of solar panels is evidenced not only by their long standby times, but also by the outstanding applications of home batteries. After all, they are often installed with solar panels. They store the electricity generated by the panels, so that residents can still use their electricity for a period of time after the sun goes down and they don’t have to immediately take power from the power grid.

According to figures received by Van Rompuy, 5,088 home battery installation grants were given in Flanders from January to April. In the same period last year there were 972.

In all of 2021, 18,970 installments were finally applied for, more than half of them in December. Also this year, Van Rompuy expects acceleration at the end of the year, because the premium amount is declining year by year. This year the premium is up to a maximum of 1,725 ​​euros.

“The rise in energy prices, as well as the decrease in the amount of premiums and the abolition of the reversing meter, encourage the Flemish to opt for a home battery,” says Van Rompuy. In addition, home battery technology has made clear progress. There are already decent systems on the market today for more limited home capacity.”
