Bayern Munich, the leaders of the German Bundesliga, suffered a shock 2-1 defeat in Augsburg in the 12th round of the Bundesliga. If Borussia Dortmund beat Stuttgart at home tomorrow, it could be up to a point from Rekordmeister.

Augsburg led after 23 minutes through Pedersen. Hahn doubled the score with a pass from Iago in the 36th minute. Lewandowski scored 2-1 (38.) after two minutes, but Bayern could no longer make a fist. This is the second time Bayern have lost this season, and Nagelsmann’s men are still in the lead in Germany with 28 points from 12 matches.

This is only the third time that Augsburg has managed to beat Bayern Munich. The two teams have faced each other 21 times. They tied twice and the Munich team won 16 times.

The Uruguayan Football Association puts its national coach Tabarez on the stones after 15 years

Oscar Tabarez (74) has been sacked as Uruguay’s national coach after more than 15 years. The Uruguayan Football Association announced this today. Tabarez is paying the price for his team’s poor performance in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

In the South American qualifying zone, Uruguay is only seventh (out of ten countries) with 16 points from 14 matches, with four days remaining. On Tuesday, Uruguay lost to Bolivia 3-0, their fourth defeat in a row. The top four qualify directly for the World Cup. The number five plays the transcontinental jump.

Tabarez began his second stint as coach of Uruguay in 2006, having managed his country from 1988 to 1990. He managed to lead Uruguay to the past three editions of the World Cup. In 2010 in South Africa, the Uruguayan national team under his leadership took fourth place. La Celeste won the Copa America a year later.

Mouscron continues the good streak

On match day 12 of the Pro League 1B, Excel Mouscron won 0-2 at Waasland-Beveren. This is the third victory in a row for coach John Champ’s men.

The visitors advanced after a goalless first half thanks to a penalty kick from Teddy Chevalier (52.). Clément Tainmont doubled the score after ten minutes on Myny’s advice. Waasland-Beveren replaced him with five players in the second half, but was unable to turn the tide.

Red Lantern Mouscron has as many points as Verton after winning: 12. Waasland-Beveren is second with 17 points, one point behind top-ranked pursuer Lierse Kempenzonen, who takes the lead in Westerlo (24 points) tomorrow.

Coach Howe has tested positive for coronavirus and has to postpone his debut at Newcastle

Eddie Howe has to postpone his start as Newcastle United manager. The coach has tested positive for the coronavirus and will miss his new team’s home game with Brentford on Saturday. “I am very disappointed, but it is very important that I follow the guidelines,” he said via the Newcastle website. “That’s why I’m going into quarantine.”

Howe succeeds Steve Bruce, who was sacked by the new board of directors last month. Then, Graeme Jones, former T2 of Roberto Martinez with the Red Devils, took over temporarily. A wealthy Saudi investment fund (PIF) acquired Newcastle in early October after the Premier League approved the deal. The umbrella organization agreed to the takeover after receiving “legally binding assurances” that Saudi Arabia would not take control of the club.

The unprotected Kimmich must return to seclusion

Joshua Kimmich is in quarantine again, and therefore will miss Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match against Augsburg. The German record champion was announced this afternoon.

The midfielder, who admitted a few weeks ago that he had not yet been vaccinated against the coronavirus, must take another mandatory break. This time because of his contact with a suspected injury in his private life.

Last week, Niklas Sully tested positive for the coronavirus. Four of his teammates, including Kimmich, have also been quarantined as a precaution because they were in close contact with the Bayern Munich defender. As a precaution, Kimmich, whose quarantine has just ended, did not train with Bayern on Thursday.

Sule will also be absent from Augsburg, as will fellow defender Josip Stanisic, who has tested positive. Striker Kingsley Coman, in turn, should be absent due to muscular complaints.

Marsoni (Siraeng) in quarantine

FC Seraing to miss the match on OHL Junior Marsoni. The winger player is in quarantine after testing positive for Covid. Nor is Francesco Donofrio not present. The right-back has not recovered sufficiently from a muscle injury he sustained at the end of the home game against Charleroi. (EN)

NBC will pay $2.38 billion for Premier League broadcast rights

NBC has renewed its agreement to broadcast rights to the English Premier League in the United States for another six years, it was announced. In total, it’s a $2.7 billion (€2.38 billion) deal, nearly double the amount NBC paid in 2016. Since 2013, they’ve owned the US broadcast rights to the world’s most mediated football league.

Thanks to the new agreement, Premier League clubs can already absorb some of the losses incurred by the Corona virus. Since the start of the pandemic, clubs are said to have incurred a loss of around 2.38 billion euros. However, a large part of the revenue, around 1.9 billion euros, will go down the football pyramid over the next three years to help clubs in the lower divisions.

Broadcast rights have been sold to North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, while negotiations are still underway for Central and South America and Asia. In England, a three-year television broadcast contract was extended to 2025 six months ago, and the initial deal was reached in 2018 and is worth 4.7 billion pounds (about 5.5 billion euros), about 10 per cent less than the previous deal. To prevent further decline in price, no bidding procedure has been held. Broadcast rights in the hands of Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime Video and BBC Sport

Werder coach Anfang investigated over possible fake vaccination certificate

The Bremen court has opened an investigation against Werder Bremen coach Marcus Anfang. A spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office in Bremen confirmed this to the German news agency dpa, after the club itself had already announced that it had been informed of an investigation. Anfang has been discredited for using a fake coronavirus vaccination certificate.

Meanwhile, Anfang vehemently denied the allegations in a club press release. “Like everyone else, I received both vaccinations twice, received both vaccinations at the official vaccination center and received the corresponding stamp in my yellow booklet,” said the coach. “I numbered it at a pharmacy and of course I assumed everything was fine. I hope this issue will be resolved soon.”
