Thanks to a 2-0 home win last week, the Conference League semi-finals appear to be within reach for Anderlecht. It would have been better if they had gone out differently than facing Racing Genk, this former star from home believes.
Bertrand Cresson didn’t like the fact that some people think they’ve already made it to the semi-finals after going 2-0 against Arizona. “I felt that we were celebrating this victory a lot, as if qualification had already started. Not so much on the players’ side, although some are already talking about winning the Conference League… but on the press side, ”explains the former Anderlecht player. And miss.
“We know the Dutch and their arrogance, but the truth is that they previously demolished Anderlecht and AZ for the sake of the game they played.” I think AZ will be under pressure this time around and ready to give everything. It will not be easy for Anderlecht and I think we have to take that into account.”
Useful defeat at Genk?
“Losing Genk, it can happen. But from 2-1 to 4-1 there was a real lack of focus,” Cresson laments. “You leave a space that shouldn’t drop this Thursday. We know they are a young, erratic team. Some also perform differently depending on whether they play in Europe or in the league…”.
