It was Chriet Titulaer with his Teleac cycle: a quarter century of space travel, it was the Battlestar Galactica series, it was Star Wars Return of the Jedi and it was all science fiction books he read. All this sparked his love for space travel. But life turned out differently, and after a short career in automation, Ram van Heemen (51 years old) ended up in public administration. He worked in public administration for seventeen years, including seven years as mayor of Sliedrecht. But the dream of doing something through space travel suddenly came back. And dreams can come true. So this summer, former Mayor Sledrecht is implementing a space studies program in Houston, Texas, in the United States. “It’s a dream come true.”
