Kevin De Bruyne did not have his best evening as an international against Ukraine. He and his teammates were booed after the final whistle.
The Red Devils were unable to impress against Ukraine, but they did what they had to do. After the draw, they qualified for second place in the group for the round of 16 of the European Championship.
Kevin De Bruyne was voted ‘Man of the Match’. Something Frank Rice could understand. “Kevin De Bruyne is one of the three best players ever in the history of Belgian football,” begins the Van Antwerp Gazette.
“He’s doing his best in this tournament. It hasn’t all been successful so far, but he’s the leader. It all starts with him. De Bruyne has to do almost everything, and in the end he takes out the rubbish bins.”
Romelu Lukaku didn’t really have a good game, but Rice put it right. “It’s true that he doesn’t often score in important matches, but on the other hand, he’s often completely alone. I won’t ask him too many questions.”
“But we also have to put the 85 goals the Red Devils have scored into perspective. That includes a lot of training games and unimportant qualifying matches.”
He suggests playing with Obinda and Lukaku. “The Leipzig striker is a different type of player than Lukaku: he digs deep, presses everywhere. That’s why they will be complementary.”
“Subtly charming internet specialist. Avid writer. Friendly alcohol guru. Music ninja. Devoted social media fanatic.”
