Both Anderlecht and KRC Genk are known for having a strong youth academy and operation. Players sometimes dare to make the switch between them. Kian Alshahbar did just that, and now he has signed his first professional contract.
Achhabar is an Anderlecht youth graduate, but he switched from the purple and white to the youth academy at Genk in 2022. He has now signed his first professional contract there. KRC Genk believes in Achhabar’s talent and has signed him for three years.
Country selected
Achhabar was born in Wilrijk and also played for the Belgium U15s, but it seems the right-back has changed his mind. The 15-year-old talent is now a Moroccan youth international and has three youth caps to his name.
KRC Genk have now signed Asahbar permanently. “With his technical skills he can easily eliminate his direct opponent. Next season Asahbar will start the season with the U16 team. KRC Genk wishes him every success in his further development at the Jos Vaessen Talent Academy,” says the Limburgers website.
Young Jink
KRC Genk and Anderlecht have youth teams active in 1B. Both clubs also focus on youth work and developing talent for the first team. At the moment, there doesn’t seem to be a chance for Asahbar at Jong Genk. He will first join the U16 team.
