In Pennsylvania, Democrat John Fetterman has won a hotly contested Senate race. Fetterman is a remarkable figure: the six-foot tattooed mayor of a small village who usually appears in a hoodie and shorts. Initially he did well in polls until a few months ago when he suffered a stroke which affected his ability to speak.
His Republican challenger is Mehmet Oz, a former heart surgeon who rose to fame as the television host “Dr. Oz.” He’s more than happy to draw attention to Fetterman’s health issues. Fetterman hit back at the campaign, calling Oz a quack and even accusing him of killing puppies. It was tough in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania traditionally has A swing position Or a state of war: Voters’ preferences vary, sometimes the Republican candidate wins, sometimes the Democrat. During the two previous presidential elections, the difference between the candidates here was 1 percentage point: Trump won in 2016, Biden in 2020. Fetterman has now managed to steal a Senate seat from Republicans for the state of Pennsylvania.
