National champions Manchester City comfortably beat Chelsea in their first league match of the season. City Controls
Lavia saw Chelsea press just before half-time: Cole Palmer tested Ederson’s fists, and Nico Jackson saw a goal ruled out for offside.
Chelsea already had the better side behind them, because after the break there were no big chances. City, led by Kevin De Bruyne, took control and made sure of the win in the 84th minute. Mateo Kovacic hit the ball well, although Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez could have done much better.
