The Brussels match between RSC Anderlecht and Union SG is scheduled to take place on Sunday evening in the Jupiler Pro League. Then local law enforcement services remain concerned. After last Thursday's events, fears of escalation are back.
Since returning to the top level, Union have been the absolute tormentor of their city rivals in purple and white. For example, the Federals have won all the derbies since then. Last Thursday in the Kroki Cup, they were able to defeat the record champion for the eighth time in a row.
Misconduct in a cup match
That powerful blow turned off the lights for some daredevils from the visiting profession. For example, Al-Ittihad goalkeeper Anthony Morris was pelted with drinks cups. When this misconduct continued, the cup match was suspended for a period of time.
After mediation attempts by captain Jan Vertonghen, sports executive Jesper Friedberg and others, calm returned to some extent and the match resumed. But there are fears of a repeat of the misconduct if things go wrong again for the Purple and White on Sunday.
Call the Movis Army
In the lead-up to the home game against Union, Army Moves released a statement via social media. In some hilarious words, Hard Core calls on people to stop throwing things on the playground. This causes harm to the club and fellow supporters and can have far-reaching consequences for the perpetrators themselves. It remains to be seen whether this call will be heeded as well…
