Hein Vanhaezebrouck and AA Gent will be together for two years longer. “It was clear to me: Ghent was the choice in Belgium,” he says overtime.
“There were also options to work abroad, but this has not yet been discussed. Because my son will start university next year.”
“It took a while with Ghent, because I wanted to get some answers and see some action.”
“I also wanted to know what the plans of the chairman and director of the club are. Will they stop? Will they sell? In the end they decided to stay in the position for a while.”
AA Gent missed a ticket to the Champions Shows. However, the ambitious club could look back on a successful season.
“I think so,” adds Hein Vanheisbrück. “Winning a cup is always fun.”
“We could have done better in Europe, but that campaign interfered with our goals in the league and cup. It all happened at the same time and we didn’t have the broadest core. It was difficult for the boys.”
“That’s why I also changed my top 3 players against PAOK. With the aim of the upcoming matches.”
Participate in the playoff I just do not work. “We dumped a lot of points away from the New Years. We were mostly heads, but we didn’t take chances,” Vanhaezebrouck is looking for an explanation.
“We could have had a few players with some extra resources in January. Then there would be no discussion about the first addendum.”
“Although our last race is still amazing. You don’t do that every year,” the coach also realizes.
