The New York Red Bulls announced Friday that Dante VanZier has been included in the draft pick against Montreal.
“Dante’s suspension has ended. We would like to inform you that his teammates voted unanimously for his return in an anonymous vote,” it said in a statement.
So nothing stood in the way of the return of competition from Fanzier and tonight it was our time: in the 67th minute, Fanzier came against Montreal.
At that moment the score was already on the scoreboard. For the home team, Andres Reyes and Corey Burke scored before halftime. Joel Waterman responded for Montreal up the middle. Final score: 2-1.
The New York Red Bulls don’t (at the moment?) not say much about Fanzier’s return. There are no reactions to the return of the No. 13 shirt, and no separate video footage of the moment he came on.
Coach Troy Lessen said before the game That Vanzeir has already had a lengthy recovery process, but that process will not end with a return to the field.
“Dante took a big step by saying he had made a mistake. Then he took 6 or 7 sessions to ‘recover’ and himself took the initiative to talk at length with his colleagues about what had happened,” Lysies said.
“The decision to bring Dante back into the group was unanimous. So obviously everybody wanted Dante back. Dante used hateful words, but he’s not a hateful person. And he has to prove it every single day.”
Remarkable: during the warm-up before the Montreal duel, Fanzier wore a white T-shirt with the words “Love Unites”. Fanzier made a comforting impression.
Christian Benteke has also been noticed in MLS with D.C. United. Our compatriot opened the scoring against the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 71st minute, after goalkeeper Bond passed the ball to him.
Two minutes later, Benteke made it 2-0 to Christian Dagome. Mateusz Klitsch made it 3-0. After 89 minutes, Benteke was allowed to rest.
In the MLS Eastern Conference, the New York Red Bulls moved up to 11th place with 16 points. DC United ranks sixth with 19 points.
