Last Saturday, footballer Setian Raharja (34 years old) died after being struck by lightning. The tragic accident occurred during a friendly match for his Indonesian club, FBI Subang. Please note that the video below contains graphic images.
FBI Subang was facing West Java's 2 FLO FC Bandung at Siliwangi Stadium when Raharja was directly struck by lightning. Although he received immediate medical attention, he later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
“We, the family of 2 FLO FC Bandung, are deeply saddened by the death of Mr. Septian Raharja, a member of FBI Subang. We hope that the deceased will have the best place in the sight of God. Amen,” the opposition wrote on its channel.
This is not the first time a football player has been struck by lightning in Indonesia. Last year, in November, the matter affected a young footballer during the Suritin U-13 Cup tournament in East Java. He went into cardiac arrest but was successfully resuscitated 20 minutes later.
