Imagine Dragons are often taken seriously in the music scene; Something the band took care of themselves by releasing a series of bad, weird, pre-made pop songs into the world. However, it must be said that a large part of the population can simply taste those songs, which is why Americans have gone so far as to allow them to participate in major festivals such as Rock Werchter. Last year certainly wasn’t a good one, although we found some positive points among the lots of confetti and fireworks, which is unexpected during debut songs Night visions. Either way, those good times will never return, and it looks like the Dragons will continue to choose the path of easy hits.
Today all of that will be a little less clear, as a new “Children of the Sky” has been written for the video game Starfield. This is partly because frontman Dan Reynolds has always been a fan of publisher Bethesda, and partly to serve as a soundtrack in the game itself. However, this does not change the fact that this latest innovation is not a huge success either. Imagine Dragons keeps the film so relaxed that it all quickly falls into cliché. The electronically treated guitar should try to embellish lyrics like “We’re children of the sky / We fly so high”, although on the other hand it’s the combination of exaggerated fanfare and hard-to-believable emotion that grabs the attention. . . Imagine Dragons once again excel at nothing but originality, resulting in another predictable and sticky song.
