KingsOn Tuesday evening, the royal family gathered at the Royal Palace in Brussels for the annual Christmas party. Elisabeth, who is studying at Oxford, is back in Belgium for the holidays. Our Crown Princess gained international acclaim in her stunning Diana von Furstenberg dress. For example, the British “Daily Mail” and the French “Paris Match” praised her “attractive blue clothes and charming appearance.” It just hit the right note.
With the Christmas party organized, King Philippe (62 years old) and Queen Mathilde (49 years old) – who wore her favorite Belgian fashion brand Natan – would like to thank the people who contributed to the smooth running of their activities in 2022. The royal couple was accompanied by three of their four children: Elisabeth (21) – who borrowed her earrings from Mama Mathilde – and Emmanuelle (17) and Eleonore (14). The latter also wore a dress by Diane von Furstenberg, which was also worn by Dutch Princess Amalia. This reports Royal Treasury.
The eldest son, Gabriel (19 years old), was not there. During the week, he attended boarding school at the Royal Military School in Brussels, where he began his military training this year. Prince Laurent (59) and Princess Claire (48) also appeared.
popular abroad
After the concert, the royal family can count on plenty of praise from abroad. Although Princess Elizabeth most prominently steals the show. For example, the British newspaper “Daily Mail” describes our princess as “looking charming in her elegant form-fitting dress with a bold slit.” And the French “Paris Match” has nothing but words of praise for the princess: “It’s a charming look,” they wrote. The Spanish magazine “Vanitas” described the princess as “the star of the evening in her dark blue dress.”
Paula
For the first time since the Corona pandemic, there was a public presence in the palace’s throne room. In the past two years, the Christmas party has been held with King Philip and his family present, but without relatives and other spectators. In 2019 – a few months before the Corona crisis hit – King Albert and Queen Paola were still there. Not this time. We already wrote on Tuesday that Paula, 85, is taking on her final assignments in organizations of interest to her or receiving help from her in-laws, Mathilde and Claire.
The Sunday Christmas Party will air on Sunday at Christmas at 4 p.m. The Anvers Concert, the Octopus Chamber Choir and the Queen Elizabeth Chapel Soloists presented a program of music on the theme of Christmas. They composed compositions by Corelli, Vivaldi and Gruber, under conductor Bart van Rijn.
