It looks like Meta will be launching Horizon Worlds in the Netherlands soon.

Meta has given the Quest app a major update and the focus is clearly on the Horizon Worlds metaverse. Horizon Worlds has been around for years, but its existence has been somewhat chaotic. It seems that Meta wants to do more with the Metaverse here. And in the Netherlands too, as shown in the updated help pages.

The app now lets you solve tasks and customize your avatar on your phone. Horizon Worlds has long been available in English-speaking countries, but everything indicates that it will soon reach various European countries. This is evidenced by the “FAQ” page created 3 days ago Updatedbut it’s also a page that shows the supported countries. Meta writes: on this“Meta Horizon Worlds will be gradually introduced on Meta Quest, mobile, and desktop in all Meta Quest-supported countries and languages.” Below is the list of countries, including Belgium and the Netherlands.

Horizon Worlds

Anyway, the Quest app is now more Horizon Worlds-focused. Not yet for Dutch Quest users, but in America the app seems to be full of Horizon Worlds references. You can still use the app to set up your Quest VR headset and view apps in the App Store. There’s also now a light mode for the app, making it easier to switch between light and dark. In the Netherlands, different worlds are referenced in Horizon Worlds, but the Worlds app itself isn’t yet widely available in our region. There was more availability for a while, but that seems to have disappeared pretty quickly after that.

Meta wants to lend Horizon OS to other companies, like Asus. They then pay for a license to use it on their devices. However, we’re particularly curious to see if Horizon Worlds will eventually become more widely available. It’s had a bit of a bumpy road, in part due to poor visuals and the lack of legs (which have now been added), but that will be the skeleton of the promising transformation Zuckerberg announced in 2021.
