British company Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has ended its dispute with the Volkswagen Group over patents for off-road driver assistance features on some of Audi, Lamborghini, Porsche and Volkswagen luxury SUVs. The original purpose of the JLR was to prevent its competitors from importing into the United States. However, it is not known under what conditions they dropped the case.
Avoiding the process
Jaguar Land Rover Documents have been filed in the courts of New Jersey, Delaware and Virginia, and in the International Trade Commission in Washington, to prevent the import of SUVs from Audi, Lamborghini, Porsche and Volkswagen. This conflict involved the unauthorized use of patented Terrain Response technology to assist inexperienced drivers during off-roading.
It seems that an agreement was finally reached a week before the process began. However, the terms of the contract have not been released. According to Bloomberg researcher Joel Levington, the JLR case would have generated more than $ 200 million a year in licensing revenue.
The controversy first involved Bentley Pentecost in 2018, after the JLR filed a lawsuit over technology that would allow the vehicle’s driving assist systems to adapt to different terrains at the touch of a button.
