celebritiesJamie Lee Curtis (64) and Lindsay Lohan (36) are ready to breathe new life into “Freaky Friday.” Two decades later, the sequel to the popular comedy comes out. And the masses owe it to Curtis. In an interview with The New York Times, the actresses reflect on their wonderful time on set and look forward to being reunited on screen again.
In the 2003 Disney hit – directed by Mark Waters – mother Tess and daughter Anna switch bodies and literally walk in each other’s shoes. In this way they learn to understand each other. In an interview with The New York Times, the protagonists of the film look into the past. “On ‘Frightful Friday,’ I went through all the phases of being a 16-year-old,” Lohan recalled. “It was the era of Avril Lavigne and Punk. That’s really how I tried it. We put white streaks in my hair. My hairstylist Tracy Cunningham put me through hell coloring my pretty red hair myself.”
Curtis recalled taking on the role of Tess after another actress dropped out. She said it was an advantage. “If I had all the time in the world to get ready, I don’t think it would have been so good,” she says. In addition, the actress was also sober. “This was also very important.”
There was a good relationship between the two actresses from the very beginning. Lohan states that Curtis “immediately took her under his wing”. “I was so nervous about doing my first kiss on camera, so she talked to me and joked so I wouldn’t stress about it,” Lohan says. The duo had a great time on set. “Doing ‘Freaky Friday’ was mostly about eating French fries and singing along to Justin Timberlake.”

So there’s good news for “Freaky Friday” fans. Twenty years after the release of the hit Disney movie, there will be a sequel. We owe that mostly to Curtis. “When I was doing interviews for ‘Halloween Ends,’ people collectively wanted to know if there was going to be another ‘Freaky Friday. Needs to be made.” And Lohan was also into the sequel right away. “We both wanted it so bad we’re leaving it now in the hands of the professionals. We’re going to make something that people will absolutely love.” The two are looking forward to being reunited onscreen again.
