Roma and Lazio lose points immediately
Roma did not pass the No. 15 Salernitana team last season. Andrea Belotti saw the VAR put a line across for his opening goal after seven minutes. Ten minutes later he was still allowed to express his joy.
Veteran Antonio Candreva fired Salernitana in the 36th minute. The 36-year-old Italian also took care of the 1-2 stage shortly after the break, which looked like a stunt in the making. Plotti prevented Roma from leaving empty-handed, heading the equalizer into the near corner eight minutes before the end: 2-2.
For a long time it looked like there was no problem for Lazio, after goal-thief Ciro Immobile put the vice-champion to a 0-1 draw. In the final phase, things went completely wrong for the Romans.
Within two minutes, Lecce completely turned the game around. In the 85th minute, former FC Utrecht winger Pontus Almqvist made it 1-1, after which substitute Federico Di Francesco made Ettore Giardiniero go 2-1.
Atalanta wins thanks to late goals
Dutch colorful Atalanta beat Sassuolo 0-2 thanks to a strong final stage. Teun Koopmeiners and Marten de Roon started at the base. Adding hire – and former PSV target – Charles De Ketelaere has made his dream debut come true. His new employer put it up 0-1 in the 83rd minute.
Nadir Zortia scored again in the 93rd minute: 0-2. Buying Atalanta Mitchell Bakker remained on the bench for ninety minutes.
