On Saturday, the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad kicks off the Belgian spring. On this page you can read all the news in the lead up to the competition.

Their classic team suddenly looks a lot stronger.” “But it also means that they will have to take on more responsibility in the race. - 6 pm 29. My fitness is fine again. I have fully recovered from the disease. I lost some training, but everything else is under control. I probably won’t be up front on Saturday, but we’ve already added some practice blocks to make up the gap again. By the second half of March, I’ll be on top. Kasper Asgreen (Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl) tested positive for corona earlier this month.
My condition is back to normal. I have fully recovered from the disease. I lost some training, but everything else is under control. I probably won’t be up front on Saturday, but we’ve already added some practice blocks to make up the gap again. By the second half of March, I’ll be on top.

- 11 a.m. 26. Oliver Neisen: “I want to be at my best in a little while.” In Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, AG2R-Citroën is based on Greg Van Avermaet, Stan Dewulf and Oliver Naesen, among others. The latter says that he had an “excellent winter”: “I did not get sick, did not catch corona, and did not fall. The light is green.” “I’ve built something different than in previous years. I want to be in good shape from Paris-Nice. But the opening weekend is still important. I train all winter for this and on Saturday I’m going to get chills at first.” †

Stuyven won the race in 2020, but has already run quite a few races under his belt. Now, just like last year, he has opted to start his season after a stint of training in the highlands in Tenerife in the opening weekend. Stuyven won’t be back until Thursday and therefore won’t be doing any surveys. †
