The phone conversation between King Charles and Prime Minister Chung today was personal, not business. Buckingham Palace told the BBC it was a “brief private conversation”. Now that he knows he has cancer, Sunak may have wanted to give Raja strength through that phone call.
The news agency had earlier reported on the weekly consultation between the king and the prime minister. The next meeting between Charles and Sunak is scheduled for February 21. The palace says the two will meet again in person later.
It was announced on Monday that the king was undergoing treatment for an unspecified cancer. During his treatment, Charles will not perform any public duties but will continue to conduct state affairs, including a weekly meeting with the Prime Minister.
Harry returned to America
The King stayed at the royal estate of Sandringham today, having traveled by helicopter with his wife Camilla.
Before she left, she spoke with her son Prince Harry, who had flown specially from Los Angeles to London. According to British media, their meeting lasted about 45 minutes.
Afterwards, Harry would have spent the night in a hotel. As far as is known, she has not seen her brother, Prince William, the heir to the throne. The two have had a rocky relationship in recent years.
William returned to work
William returned to work today for the first time after three weeks of no official duties due to his wife Catherine's stomach surgery. He made time to support his wife post-surgery and be there for their children.
At a ceremony at Windsor Castle this morning, he presented the awards to key contributors to society. Tonight he will attend a charity event to raise money for the British Air Ambulance.
Princess Catherine was released from hospital last week but will rest until at least Easter.
