Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the upcoming AirPods Pro 2 will use Apple’s own Lightning connector. In addition, a well-known Apple analyst indicates that mass production will occur in Vietnam in the second half of this year, with an expected release date of September/October 2022.
At the end of last year, photos of the alleged AirPods Pro 2 appeared.
According to Kuo, Apple has chosen Vietnam to diversify its production, and setting up facilities in this country instead of India will also reduce potential geopolitical risks. Prototypes will continue to be manufactured and refined on Chinese soil, as it will not be easy to establish a full production site outside of China.
While it appears that Apple, after much protest, is planning to switch completely to USB Type-c, it may be some time before that is really the case. Earlier this month, Kuo announced that the US manufacturer would not release the first iPhone with USB-C – the alleged iPhone 15 – until the second half of 2023.
The European Union wants to impose a global charging standard for USB-C-equipped mobile devices.
