foreign footballKylian Mbappe (23) first responded to rumors of his desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January. “I don’t understand. I have nothing to do with this.” The French and Spanish media claimed to have obtained this information from his entourage. This is because the club will not fulfill the promises it made to extend Mbappe’s contract last summer.
Here’s what PSG coach Galtier had to say about the rumors last week:
“I did not ask for January to leave,” Mbappe said after Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 win over Marseille. “This information was leaked on the day of the Champions League match against Benfica (Tuesday, editor). I don’t understand. I’m not involved. Not directly and indirectly. I was actually in shock. When they broke the news, I was taking a nap. The delegation was Accompanying me in my brother’s match. We were all stunned when we read the news. In the end I had to put up with it. I had no choice, I had a match. But all the rumors are false. I am very happy in Paris.”
Mbappe signed a stunning new contract with Paris Saint-Germain in May after long hesitation. After Real Madrid felt confident, the French club convinced him with a contract worth more than 50 million euros annually and a one-time bonus of 100 million. With this contract extension, the French club had made all kinds of promises that the club had yet to keep. Someone from Mbappe’s entourage would have said that, among others, L’Equipe, Le Parisien, RMC and Marca. Exactly promises that have not been added. A rumor has been launched that Mbappe will be so unhappy that he wants to shut the door behind him in Paris in January. “I was wrong,” he would whisper to his entourage.
“Neither against me nor against Nasser Al-Khelaifi,” said sporting director Luis Campos of the rumours. “Is he still happy in Paris? You have to ask him that. He behaves like a top pro.”
It’s no secret that Mbappe would like to play for Real Madrid one day. However, Marca has learned that a move to the Royal Club is out of the question for PSG. The Spanish club had already tried to lure Mbappe last year to the Santiago Bernabeu, much to the chagrin of the Parisians. Real Madrid’s role in the Premier League draft also shook Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool will be the only option in January, but money is not growing on trees there. Last summer, however, the Reds signed Darwin Nunez for €75 million.
Mbappe’s camp has often leaked things in the past to put pressure on them. In France, the star gradually scales an image spoiled boy in. Who threatens to leave when he does not like something.
Henry: “I didn’t like playing on the wing in Barcelona, but I liked it”
Thierry Henry, T2 of the Red Devils, also spoke about the rumors surrounding Mbappe. “No one likes to do things they are not good at,” the former Arsenal and Barcelona striker, among others, told CBS. “But the club is still bigger than the individual. I also didn’t like playing on the wing in Barcelona. I hated it, but I did.”
In May, Mbappe said this about his choice to stay at PSG:
