The festive classic from George Michael and Andrew Ridgley beat out hits from Sam Ryder, Mariah Carey, Kirsty MacColl and others. Ryder's “You're Christmas To Me” ranked second, followed by Carey's “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
Strike! It has been named the top Christmas song in the UK with 'Last Christmas' – 39 years after it failed to reach the festive top spot for the first time. The song, written and produced by the late George Michael, beat 1984's “Do They Know It's Christmas?” For Band Aid.
“The Christmas song ‘Last Christmas’ has finally risen to the coveted and sought-after No. 1 position, which was always the main goal,” band member Ridgely told Sky News.

“George will now be very happy that after all these years we have finally reached the number one spot for Best Christmas Songs. It has always been known that George wrote this song to get to number one, but this has never been achieved before.”
Last week, “Last Christmas” has already been listened to nearly 13.3 million times across popular streaming services, making it officially the most-streamed Christmas song of all time during Christmas week.
Band Wham! They broke up in 1986. Band member George Michael died on Christmas Day 2016 at the age of 53.
