Lenovo revamps the ThinkPad L series and focuses on repairability and artificial intelligence

The Lenovo ThinkPad L series gets an upgrade to Intel Core Ultra and new Ryzen Pro chipsets. The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 is also updated.

New Intel chips and new laptops from all manufacturers? Since the beginning of 2024, AI-powered PCs have been raining down everywhere and the ThinkPad L series should not be left behind. Thanks to Intel Core Ultra integration, the laptops are also WiFi 7 compatible and you can accelerate around 100 AI tasks in some applications with the integrated NPU. And yes, every laptop has a copilot button on the keyboard.

Lenovo ThinkPad L models are available in three screen sizes (16:10 ratio). Both the 14- and 16-inch models are available in Intel Core Ultra or AMD Ryzen Pro 7030 series. The smaller 13-inch model is only available with Intel and you can choose as a standard laptop or a 2-in-1 model with a 360-degree hinge.

after ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 and T16 Gen 3 The new ThinkPad L models are also iFixit certified with a recovery score of 9 out of 10. Lenovo assures that users can easily repair the devices themselves and that official parts such as RAM, keyboard, SSD, and WWAN are available.

Great addition: The new Lenovo ThinkPad L has more comfort in some basic keys for reference for those who are blind or visually impaired. For example, they can now tactilely touch where the volume keys or Enter button are located.

On the sidelines, Lenovo also announced the ThinkPad X13 series equipped with an Intel Core Ultra processor.

Price and availability

All devices will be available from Q2 2024. The Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 5 and L16 Gen 5 start at €1,099 with Intel Core Ultra included. AMD versions of both systems cost €80 less.

The Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen 5 and L13 2-in-1 Gen 5 will be available starting at €1,069 and €1,199, respectively. The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 5 and X13 2-in-1 Gen 5 will be available soon for €1,399 and €1,649, respectively.
