Liverpool managed to book their first Champions League win of the season at the last minute. Matip managed to take a corner kick in the final stage and Ajax still counted.
After a lesser start to the competition and the Champions League, there was a lot of pressure on Liverpool. At Anfield they started to attack Ajax.
The Dutch barely managed to get out and were more than fifteen minutes late. Mohamed Salah was put in front of goal by Diogo Jota, and Al-Masry did not miss that opportunity.
Liverpool dominated the match, but Ajax only needed one chance to hurt the home team. Mohamed Kodos scored the equalizer, his fourth goal in a row this season.
Liverpool did not tolerate another loss of points and were desperate to score a second goal. Chances of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk came to nothing. Even a corner kick in the 89th minute landed on the head of Joel Matip: 2-1.
