The airline announced the timing following videos on its social media channels showing the first example painted in Brussels Airlines colors at aircraft manufacturer Airbus in Toulouse, France. The device will not come to Brussels immediately. Delivery is expected at the end of August. The first passenger flight will take place in October, said Joel Knipp, a spokeswoman for the airline.
There will be a total of five A320neos in the fleet. The second and third are also expected to be delivered this year, but will likely not be operational until early 2024. The last two are expected in 2024. The new aircraft replaces older aircraft (A319) in the Brussels Airlines fleet.
“essential step”
With these modern and advanced aircraft, Brussels Airlines takes a fundamental step in the further modernization of its fleet and significantly reduces CO2 emissions and noise on its medium-haul network. They are set in Brussels by parent group Lufthansa. “A strong sign of confidence from Lufthansa that they believe in the future of Brussels Airlines.”
