Was he crazy now? Clearly something strange was happening in the cabin of 75-year-old Rodney Holbrook from Wales. His belongings were inexplicably moved during the night: over and over, small objects like clothes pegs and nails were arranged and placed in a box on his workbench. The seventy-year-old decided to install a night camera and discovered that the mouse was the mysterious cleaner. “I call him the cleaning rat.”

look. Arrested! A mouse cleans every night in the barn of a 75-year-old Welsh man:

“It's been going on for about two months,” retired postal worker Rodney Holbrook told Animal News. “I noticed that the food I prepared for the birds ended up in a pair of old shoes that I had stored in the shed.” And the little things he left lying around suddenly mysteriously returned to the wooden junk box where they belonged.

Clean the mouse

The seventy-year-old man, who is a nature photographer, decided to put a camera in his hut to find out what was happening. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the hardworking mouse in the pictures. The mouse put all sorts of things, which Rodney regularly left behind after doing a job himself, into the box on his workbench.

The pictures show how the mouse puts lids, clothespins, screwdrivers, corks and other things and ends up back in the box on the table. And much more too. “I've seen him put all kinds of things in the box, like bits of plastic and nuts and bolts. I don't care about cleaning anymore because I know he'll do it. I call him the cleaning rat.”

Rodney loves looking at pictures of the hardworking mouse. “I think it would clean my wife if I left her there,” he laughs. “It's been happening almost every night for two months now.”

The Seventy Thing now and then challenges the little mouse. Then he leaves something larger or something new behind to see if the mouse can clean it up too. Sure enough, the mouse keeps moving. Ratatouille cleaning service, so to speak!
