The semi-finals at the European Championships are already within the reach of the Red Lions. In the second match, Spain turned out to be very green behind the ears: Belgium quickly went up 5-1 and can now relax and look forward to their Group C match against weak brother Austria to secure the group victory.
look. Summary of the match between Belgium and Spain
A few thousand spectators entertained Belgium at the Sparkassenpark, a beautiful temple of hockey located a stone’s throw from the Borussia Mönchengladbach football stadium. The craft radiates from the Red Lions, the most experienced team in European Championship history.
On the other hand, there was a young Spain with potential for the future. Goalkeeper Vanash saved an early penalty kick from a corner kick, but Belgium then took control 2-0 after the first quarter. Boucard’s vertical pass into the goal was parried by Ghislain and Hendrix scored his third penalty in a row. In this way, a lot of pressure fell on the Red Lions’ shoulders. The second quarter guarantees glamorous combinations. Van Doren, who advanced along, gave Van Oppel a 3-0 lead. Charlier won applause with a fine volley from Denyer, albeit narrowly over the goal.
The gap was enough for the Red Lions in the second half with low power. Belgium played with fire for some time, as Pastera reduced the lead to 3-1. What’s more, Belgium didn’t let things get in their way: Hendrix made it 4-1 from the penalty spot and stalwart youngster Onana scored his first European Championship goal.
The Red Lions could easily reach the semi-finals. A group win seems within reach too, as weak sister Austria take the lead on Wednesday: a chance to extend their goal difference 10-4. In the other group, Germany stands out as the favorite, as it beat the Netherlands 3-0. For example, the Orange team appear to be the second likely player in Group B on Friday as Belgium’s opponents.

Victory guarantees qualification to the semi-finals
With the Red Lions winning – and it seems so – they are assured of a ticket to the semi-finals. Mathematically, the group victory is still far from the Belgians, but then our hockey guys have to lose hard in the third match against Austria – a weak brother.
