Both Milan teams started the game eagerly. The Rossoneri went in search of much needed goals and created two great chances in the first half. But Edin Dzeko, last week’s top scorer, twice almost gave Inter the lead. Despite the chances, both teams rested without scoring after an intense 45 minutes.
Along with the offensive ball, numerous mistakes were characteristic of the fifth “Derby della Madonnina” of the season. In the second half, Romelu Lukaku (66.) appeared with Inter. Not long after, he provided the assist for Lautaro Martinez’s editorial goal (74). The Argentine kicked the ball into the short corner. Milan’s Belgian players Alexis Salemaekers and Divock Origi had the opportunity to turn the tide in the 76th minute, but failed to do so. Charles de Cutlery remained on the bench in Milan.
In the Champions League final, Inter is the underdog against Real Madrid or Manchester City anyway. These two teams will decide on Wednesday night who will compete against them on June 10 in Istanbul. The first confrontation between Real and City last week ended in a 1-1 draw.
Inter qualified for the CL Final for the sixth time. He won the Cup with Big Ears (also the 1st European Cup) three times: in 1964, 1965 and 2010. Inter is the last Italian club to win the Champions League.
