It’s already clear that developer Insomniac Games has scored another big hit with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The game is another graphical powerhouse and plays like a dream. Although the studio has achieved something that represents a milestone for graphics on PS5.
Let’s take a step back, because like countless games, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also gets several performance options. As gamers, you can choose between 30 FPS, 40 FPS, or 60 FPS. What’s great is that each frame rate option also supports ray tracing. Yes, you also get ray tracing at 60fps.
It is clear that the decision will not be that high, although there are no specific numbers for that unfortunately. Maybe 4K at 30fps, 1440p at 40fps, and 1080p at 60fps?
During an interview with IGNCore Technology Director Mike Fitzgerald also explained ray tracing in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. For example, Fitzgerald stated that “ray tracing will become part of the core performance mode.” There is no “mode where ray tracing is disabled because it is not necessary”. After all, the team knew “what Spider-Man visuals should be like and wants every player to be able to experience that.”
It looks really cool. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 hits shelves October 20.
