Club Brugge are currently in a corner where the blows are falling, but the champions were still able to come out with positive news today: the Red Devil Maxime De Kuyper has extended his contract for two seasons until mid-2028.
The 23-year-old De Kuyper has been a member of Club Brugge since he was eight years old. He made a name for himself with Club Brugge’s U19 team in the UEFA Youth League, making his debut in the second round of the 2019-2020 under coach Philippe Clement and playing regularly for NXT in 2020-2021.
De Kuyper then moved to Westerlo as a mercenary for two years, where they were promoted from the second division to the first division in 2022. His first full year in the first division was also eye-catching as he scored 8 goals and made 6 assists in 30 games.
The youth product is a strong player at left back.

“After a strong 2022-23 season in the top flight with Westerlo, De Kuyper has been rewarded with a new contract until 2026 in the summer of 2023,” the club said.
“Since last season, the 23-year-old defender has been a regular starter in the Club Brugge first team. The youth product is a solid left-back, leading to a title and a successful campaign in the Conference League.”
This made him an international player, and he was allowed to go to the European Championship, where he did not play a single minute. In 63 matches with Club Brugge, he scored 5 goals and provided 15 assists.
“All this led to the second extension in two years.”
