Metejoor’s autograph session brought a crowd of fans to Waasland Shopping in Sint-Niklaas on Saturday afternoon. It is estimated that more than 500 visitors lined up early in the morning to get an autograph and a photo of the hugely popular singer.
Metejoor scores hit after hit and has become an indispensable part of the screen with shows like The Voice Kids and Liefde Voor Muziek. The Flemish singer’s amassing of a huge fan base in just two years was evident on Saturday afternoon at Waasland Shopping. There he presented his second album, “Juris,” and devoted an hour to anyone who wanted an autograph or a photo of him. When Metegor took the stage at 4:15 p.m., it was estimated that more than 500 fans were already waiting for him.
“We’ve been waiting in line since nine o’clock this morning,” says Eliana (9 years old), who drove from Oitbergen to Sint-Niklaas with her friend Lotti (10 years old) and her mother Evelyn. “But it was more than worth the wait. We were the first to have our photo taken with Metejoor. We’ve never seen him so close before. A unique experience. We’re even more fans now than we already were.”
The turnout was so overwhelming that the waiting list itself had to be closed. Metejoor’s CDs also sold like hotcakes and had to be renewed during the signing session. “I regularly go to concerts by Flemish singers, and I have seen Metejoor in action at least 10 times,” says Alexandra Aughe (26) from Wondelgem. “I’ve been there with my friends since the beginning of his career. However, this was only the first time I was able to meet Metegor. Just like on TV, he is a very nice and friendly artist.
Metejoor is not the first artist to fill Waasland Shopping. Pomilian Theis already did that to him in June. “But Metejoor’s visitor numbers are even higher,” says Waasland Shopping management, which ran the signing session. “It is clear that Metejoor is currently one of our most popular Flemish artists.”
