Microsoft really wants to buy Nintendo

The publisher has already proven in recent years that Microsoft wants to expand its gaming division at any cost. The tech giant has acquired Bethesda and is currently in the process of acquiring Activision Blizzard. Spencer sent the email to Microsoft’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer in 2020. In the email, Spencer stated that acquiring Nintendo would be a good move for both companies.

Spencer also expressed his doubts in the email: He is sure the Japanese company is sitting on a mountain of money. It will not be possible to make an acquisition without purchasing shares through the stock exchange.

He also believes that Microsoft should not be too aggressive in its approach, so Microsoft is playing a long game. It’s not clear if Spencer still has his eye on Nintendo today…

In the same email, Spencer also discusses the Bethesda acquisition, which becomes a reality in 2021. Even Warner Bros. Games, publisher of Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat. If one of the acquisitions goes through (Bethesda or Warner Bros. Games), Spencer noted that Microsoft will become more important in the video game space.
