Milan-San Remo will not start in Milan Cathedral this year, but will start in nearby Pavia. Therefore, “La Primavera” may become a little longer than it was in the recent past.
The first cycling monument of the year will move to Pavia on March 16, a town of 80,000 located 35 kilometers south of Milan, where the Certosa di Pavia monastery is an eye-catcher and a beautiful backdrop to the start of the race.
This is not the first time that La Primavera has overlooked Milan as a starting point. Last year, the Milan-San Remo journey began in Abbottigrasso, 20 kilometers west of Milan.
Since the start will be in Pavia this year, the mileage will likely be higher than the 294 kilometers for 2023, the edition won by Mathieu van der Poel.
