The catering industry in Gouda was given the opportunity in 2021 to expand the stands in light of corona measures. The hospitality industry helped maintain some revenue. The municipality has decided to commit to this expansion before 2022 as well.

The idea behind expanding the temporary balcony is to support the local catering industry. This commitment was applauded by Judah Horeca. Lennart van Gastel (President of Koninklijke Horeca Nederland, Department of Gouda) was also pleased with the decision: “The maximum scope of entrepreneurship creates recovery. The municipality of Gouda understands this and makes space for it literally and figuratively.”
Temporary Balconies
A temporary extension of the Terrace is possible from 1 March 2022 to 31 October 2022 and must be proportional to the corona measures in force at that time. If there is not enough space for an event and a temporary expansion of the balcony at the same time, then priority will be given to events. Catering entrepreneurs also need a statement of approval from the municipality and the balcony will have to be placed in consultation with the environment.
