The emergency department in Arnhem had two isolation rooms before the Corona crisis. There are now twenty. “In principle, these are temporary isolation rooms,” says Douwe Rijpsma, chief of the emergency department (ED) at Rijnstate. “These are rooms where we can put patients with possible corona infection behind a closed door.”
Most of the employees are now in good health. The last people who have been sick for a long time are recombining. This is going well, fortunately
‘Keep your distance’
Rijpsma noted earlier: The Corona virus is not expected to disappear completely. Which means that more than two isolation rooms will remain necessary in the emergency room. This also applies to rapid tests, the wearing of mouth coverings and protective clothing, and packaging and sterilization equipment, measuring 1.5 metres.
