It is taken care of. Before she died, their mother told them to leave. “Maybe you will see your father,” she said. Ranoc Morales told the story of what could have happened in the jungle.
Meanwhile, the Colombian police released pictures of the moment when the four children were found by indigenous rescuers after 40 days of wandering in the jungle. The photos, taken with a smartphone, show the four children in the arms of rescuers. All children are very emaciated. The rescuers smoke tobacco (a plant sacred to the Aborigines, ed.) and happily thank them.
Rescuers recounted on local television the moment of the confrontation. “The eldest daughter, Leslie, with the little girl in her arms, ran up to me. “I am hungry,” said Leslie.
“We immediately addressed them with positive words and said that we are friends, that we came on behalf of the family, the father, the uncle, that we are relatives,” said Nicolás Ordóñez Gomez, one of the rescuers.
The plane the children were traveling in crashed in the woods on May 1st. In addition to the pilot, their mother and a loved one were on board. The three adults died in the accident. They were found two weeks later, but their children were missing. Until they were found on Friday.
According to Colombian authorities, the family fled threats from the Marxist rebel movement FARC, which rejects the landmark 2016 peace agreement.
