Jose Mourinho has a great new challenge this summer. Six months after being sacked by Roma, he has signed for Turkey, where he must lead Fenerbahce to success again. He could also receive Belgian help.
Michy Batshuayi may have left the club for arch-rivals Galatasaray, but Fenerbahce have been linked with Romelu Lukaku here and there. After all, he was still working with the Special One at Manchester United. But now another Red Devil’s name has been mentioned too.
De Cuyper is now also linked with Fenerbahce.
Turkish sources often treat the matter with caution, but now suggest that Maxime De Kuyper is on Fenerbahce’s wish list. The Club Brugge left-back has also been heavily linked with a move to Besiktas, one of the club’s Istanbul rivals, in recent days.
However, Fener’s interest has not yet become concrete. They are still exploring different avenues in the search for a new left-back, as they may need one this summer.
Alternative revelation in the European Championship Kadioglu
After all, it seems that Fenerbahce will have to say goodbye to Ferdi Kadioglu. The 24-year-old is very popular in the transfer market after his strong performances with the Turkish national team at the European Championship. He is being brought in by several major European clubs.
Arsenal, Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli, among others, are said to be eyeing Kadioglu, who was born and raised in the Netherlands. He made his professional football debut at NEC, where Fenerbahce managed to sign him for €1.4m in 2018. They could soon be hunting multiples of that sum.
