Mouscron also does not get a license on appeal and falls to the second amateur | 1B Pro League

Last month, Mouscron was denied a professional and amateur football license by the Licensing Commission for the seventh time in eight years. The Licensing Committee ruled that “the continuation of the club cannot be guaranteed until June 30, 2023 (the end of the season).”

Mouscron still pays wages for March and April, but has been desperately looking for a buyer since the partnership with Lille collapsed. Since there is still a criminal investigation of document falsification, candidates are not lining up.

The club informed its players, on Tuesday, that it will not obtain a professional license from the Belgian Center for Arbitration in the Sports Sector (C-SAR) on the appeal, according to a tweet from the player Jeremy Travell.

“Sad news for the fans, the staff and all the young people at Mouscron, but without a licence,” the experienced defender wrote. “A big thank you to all the real people who tried to build something and fought for Mouscron.”

Mouscron is relegated to the amateur second division because of this decision, where he must start with a deficit of minus three points.

At least if the club doesn’t disappear from the radar completely. There is a rumor in the French-speaking press that the club will file for bankruptcy, but Mouscron has not yet confirmed this. Mouscron will still have to settle a mountain of debt amounting to 4 million euros.
