New Official Single Speed Wear – “Bunto”

Formal Speedwear is a band from Stoke-On-Trent, and yes, the group's name is actually spelled correctly. Beck Cleo founded the band, but because he was lonely, he asked Charlie Ball and Connor Wells to join him in the rehearsal room, studio and auditorium. There are three options at Stoke: work in the ceramics industry, be Robbie Williams or form a band. So starting a band seems like a very good option to us!

“Bunto” is the new single that the band is letting us hear after their EPs dynamite And Pay. We are very curious and wondered what “Bunto” actually means. I finish? “Bunto” is a prostitute in Spanish-speaking South America. In Japanese it means “crossing by boat”. The Punto can be a very close friend. A “punto” can be something small but very powerful, like a baseball for example. In Chaldean numerology, “bunto” is the number 6. Here you go! For us, “Bunto” is basically the song that Formal Speedwear released. The song seems to start with digital laughter in the background until the drums come in. The drums sound incredibly dry, pay special attention to the drum sticks which are masterfully beaten together. This is followed by a bass line that wouldn't be out of place on Steve Rubell's Studio 54. The guitar wraps around this rhythm section like a little snake throughout. After two minutes the tempo changes completely and the disco sound is replaced by the rock sound. It sounds very similar to Talking Heads, and the band does it really well. The arrangements are put together flawlessly and “Bunto” is played by a trio that has mastered their instruments from the ground up. Really great song!
