Moroccan and international travellers travelling to the European Union should take into account stricter rules on liquids and gels in their hand luggage as of September 1. The European Union is re-imposing previously relaxed restrictions.
Concretely, this means that liquids in hand luggage are once again limited to bottles with a maximum capacity of 100 ml, instead of the 125 ml previously allowed. All liquids must also be placed in a single transparent plastic bag, with a maximum capacity of one litre.

These safety rules have been in place since 2006, but have been relaxed at some airports, such as Frankfurt, thanks to the introduction of new CT scanners. These scanners, based on medical technology, quickly create a three-dimensional image of the contents of a bag. However, the EU questions the reliability of these new scanners, so the old rules are coming into force again.

Pending further research into the scanners, the relaxations are no longer applicable. Although liquids may remain in hand luggage when screened using the new scanners, they must be removed from the conventional scanners still in use at many European airports. Electronic devices must also be screened separately using these scanners.
