to update Lander Loockx will immediately move from Deschacht-Hens-Maes to TDT-Unibet, the ambitious ProTeam of the men behind the successful Tour de Tietema YouTube channel. Officially, the 26-year-old Belgian is under contract with the Dutch team from October 1, 2023, for whom he will also play during the cyclo-cross season next winter.
Given his direct move from the full-time cross team Deschacht-Hens-Maes to TDT-Unibet, Loockx’s ambitions have also changed. He wants to focus more on the road. This does not change the fact that he will be racing in a Tour de Tietema jersey in the coming months. His first competition in his new livery is BK/EC Gravel in Oud-Heverlee. That match is scheduled to take place on Sunday.
The Belgian took silver at the U23 Cyclocross Championships in Kroepke in 2019, but has yet to make his breakthrough among the pros. Last season he won the OZ Cross in Fayetteville. Loockx is currently ranked 33rd in the UCI rankings. He was selected eight times for the World Cup by national coach Sven Vanthornhout last season. He took his first UCI win on the road this year by winning the prologue at the Upper Austria Rundfahrt (2.2).
Update 5pm: TDT-Unibet confirms the arrival of Loockx
Meanwhile, TDT-Unibet also announced the arrival of the crossing itself. “I expressed my ambition to focus more on the road next season,” says Loockx. “I have been given this opportunity at TDT-Unibet and I am very happy about it. I expect that I can make great progress with this ambitious team. After four years, Deschacht Hens-Maes has given me the space to prepare for the road season with my new team. TDT-Unibet was open “For supporting me in my cyclo-cross program. I am grateful to the sports department for that.”
