We could also have used “Least Dutch Cars” as the headline, because here we love buying big (or especially loud) cars for little money. Let’s look at it from the other side. Don’t think of these cars as a value menu at a Mac, but an expensive appetizer at a five-star restaurant. These are nine cars where you get a small car for a lot of money.

Mini Cooper Convertible Electric

Aston Martin Cygnet

It’s still a strange story: a Toyota iQ with new headlights, bumpers, and plenty of leather inside, then marketed as a real Aston Martin. Only 150 were sold, which is not surprising at 41k – more than three times the cost of a mechanically identical IQ at the time.

Fiat Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari

This was Fiat’s attempt to break into the expensive city-car market: an Abarth 500 in a Rosso Corsa, with paddles behind the steering wheel, an extra 20 horsepower and some carbon-fiber parts. Ferrari’s official homage, 500 of which were paid for at €34,900 each.

Audi A1 quattro

Before the S1, Audi tried to turn the luxurious A1 into something worthy of the Quattro name. To that end, it gets 256 horsepower, all-wheel drive, turbo-look wheels and a WRC rear spoiler. 333 were built, of which only 11 came to the Netherlands, for 65,000 each.

Mini inspired by Goodwood

Aston Martin Cygnet V8
