No Wout van Aert and Remco Evenepoel In the headless BK trial, find out who is involved

No Wout van Aert and Remco Evenepoel In the headless BK trial, find out who is involved

The Belgian Time Trial Championship in Bench cannot count on defending champion Wout van Aert and World Time Trial Champion Remco Evenepoel next Thursday. They were still training at altitude at that time. For the women, Lottie Kopecky, last year’s winner, will be present.

It has been known for some time that Remco Evenepoel will not be present at Binche.

The world time trial champion stayed in the Alps after the Critérium du Dauphiné to train for the final climb towards the Tour. Evenepoel will explore some of the Tour’s stages there and will not return until before the Belgian Road Championship.

Wout van Aert has had the BC Time Trial on his agenda for a long time. But stumbling upon the door of Dwars Vlaanderen made him change course.

Last year’s Belgian time trial team is still trying to prepare for a possible participation in the Tour at altitude in Tignes. He also only travels to Belgium to participate in the Belgian championships.

This leaves the way open as the crow flies for Alec Segaart (Lotto-Destiny) and Yves Lambaert (Soudal-Quick Step) to take on the Belgian Tricolour.

Segaert was runner-up last year. Yves Lambert already has two Belgian time trial titles to his name and showed his growing form on Sunday with a time trial victory in the Tour of Switzerland.

Rune Herregodts (Intermarché-Wanty) may become the third dog in skittles. Last year, the 25-year-old Belgian finished third on the podium. A week ago, Herigodts impressed with his maiden time trial win at the ZLM Tour.

Kopecky is seeking a sixth straight title

Among the women, the first candidate will start: Lottie Kopecky. A sixth consecutive Belgian time trial title is up for grabs.

The battle for the other podium places will be interesting with Marthe Goossens (third last year), Julie van de Velde and Marion’s cyclocross rider Norbert Ribrol.
